Default Mariner 80 tach

Before I had the power head replaced on my motor the tach would work sometimes and sometimes not. After the new power head it does not work at all. I think perhaps a loose wire/bad connection is the fault. Where would the wires from the dash run to and what colour would they be? I don't want to take the motor all the way back to the shop for something I can possibly fix. I think I have a 1980 model.

This site should help. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read it. Also, if your charging system is not working, neither will the Tach. Check it out to make sure it's working! web page

!I have not looked yet Rick but notice that the tach only works while I crank the motor. Are we still on the right track?
