15 hp mercury very hard to start need advice !!!!!!

seems to get flodded easy and tried to check for spark (plugs to block test) didnt see any, but once in a while it starts easy (one pull) and when it runs, it runs well.....need help!!!!!!!! :confused:

Can you post the serial number or the year of the motor?

it is a 1990 I believe.

I have the same problem with my 1981 mariner. I have spark from the coils, but i'm replacing the plugs and replacing the float guts tommorow. It runs good when it runs, but just wont start lately. Floods like you are saying. Someone said to make sure the gas tank vents properly. If I get her going, I will let you know what caused it.
