The dealer put a 21 pitch Black Max Mercury prop on my new motor ('03 75 merc). Is this a "tall" pitch or a "low end" pitch. He said it is a middle of the road for best overall performance. Thanks for any input.

I have merc 60s on my boat & run 10 1/2 x 13 props.21 inches of pitch sounds tall to me but you wont know until youve tried it in the water. With a light load in the boat you should be getting a WOT rpm reading near the upper limit for your engine.I would get the dealer to agree to swop your prop if it is too big.Dont let the engine labour they like to rev..

He said the same thing. they agreed a swap if its too tall. I'll have to wait until it's broken in to see.
