I have posted some of this already, but have some new info.

Here is whats happening. (Keep in mind that I'm brand new to this).

I have a 18' Doral runabout (http://www.cronkwright.com/HPIM0990.JPG) with a Mercury thunderbolt 850 (http://www.cronkwright.com/HPIM0991.JPG) and it is really slow. At full throttle it will only go 20MPH tops running 4300 - 4500 RPM. It takes forever to plain out and get up to speed. The numbers on the prop are 48-6558844 19deg. The motor runs good and sounds good. What is wrong? Is it just not enough engine for the size of the boat? Am I over proped?

Thanks for your suggestions.

you probably have too high a pitch on your propellor. since you have a heavier boat, try getting a smaller pitch propellor (maybe 11 to 16) on your boat. this will also help you ger of the hole better

woah!!!!!! i saw that prop its almost sideways!!!! try a lower pitched propellor. im looking tobuy an 850 they are very good motors take care of it. in case you dont know what pitch is, its basically the angle of the blade on the propellor go to a merc dealer and he will explain it better

If I had to pick one, I'd go with a 14pitch. That should get you about 1000 more rpm and better holeshot. But don't look for too much more in the mph department, maybe a few.
