Default 1996 mariner 60- water pump question

just purchased boat new water pump placed 1 year ago by previous owner. took boat out in cold water noticed no water coming out of engine where cooling water should be flowing. Is there a thermostat on these engines?

check pee hole maybe bee or something clogged hole.mine did that dirt dobber had made a nest and mine shoots out water as soon as it starts .

I think they do. How long was your motor running for with no water coming out? I would check and see if the hose is on the pee hole tube, if it isn't, it will come out somewhere else.

Sounds like the telltale drain is plugged. Remove the rubber drain hose from telltale fitting under cowling and check for sand ,dirt,ect.. Try again with water muffs. If no water remove a drain or vent plug on cylinder head and see pump is pushing water into water jacket.If no water is present better look at pump itself.

hi ,i just got my 60 hp mariner and when i started it ,it took about 20 seconds for the water to start coming out and after that it worked good,is this normal or the water pump should be replaced and if yes would like to know where it is located.
