I really don't think you want to dis-assemble the lower unit. It requires special tools and a service manual.


Are you certain the ticking is coming from the lower unit?


It may be a slipping clutchdog gear, which can often be fixed with an adjustment of the shift linkage.


Describe the ticking a little more.

Does it snap or clunk?

Or is it more of a click?

Does the prop fully engage in forward, neutral, and reverse?


How is the oil in the lower unit? clear? full?

Are you sure about the year and hp?
