Differences from the 88 to the 89 merc. outboards??

I have a 89 mercury and i see they must be different than the 86 to 88 year motors.Just looking to see what was actualy different from them.Was it just the style of it so most parts would be interchangable to the 89?Or was it a real makeover?

That depends. You cannot say in general what changes from one year to another as some models may stay unchanged while others are changed or simply replaced. It is common that certain parts are updated and this means that spare numbers go out and gets a reference to a newer part so that when you purchase a replacement you will get the latest version.<br /><br />Do you have a specific problem?
