I have a 1981 90hp merc that has a cracked transom bracket. I picked up a 1979 90hp and found the shift linkage to be cumbersome to remove. Decided to leave the bracket attatched and just remove the powerhead and use the whole mid section of the 1979 Mer. Only obvious diffrence is the 1979 has the two transom clamps but also has the same bolt pattern which is what I planned on using. I was planning on using some indian head gasket sealer and leave the exsisting gasket in place. Any drawbacks to this? The only tricky part appears to be the one seal that goes between the midsection and power head. Anyone have any advice, tips or tricks? <br /><br />Thank you,<br /><br />Sean
