Default 60 HP MARINER GAS LEAK

HELLO GUYS,I have a 1988 60 hp mariner that tends to leak gas when trimmed up and not running. I have been told that a small amount of gas leaking is normal on older motors by two different mechanics, but i don't know anyone else that owns an older boat with this problem. i know this isn't a carb issue because both carbs are brand new (not just rebuilt). I was wondering if the check valve in the fuel pump could be faulty? any help would be appreciated.

Were exactly did you say the fuel is leaking? I have noticed that on my motor, propably on most, that fuel lines dont have hose clamps on the ends, just zip ties, they dont seal worth a flip. Its inexpensive and a good idea to add screw tight hose clamps on all your hose ends. I dont know if this helps your problem, but at least this can be good food for thought. Oh yeah, if you do decide to do this little job, while your at the parts store getting some hose clamps, buy a small inexpensive inline fuel filter to put on the fuel line somewhere.

the fuel is leaking internally. it is pulsing from the spray nozzle inside the carb throat. it seems to only leak until the built up pressure in the line is gone. when the motor is tilted, the leaking fuel runs out of the carb & down the motor. hope this info gives you a better idea of my problem.

HiI also have a Mariner 60hp 3 cylinder 1988 oil injected engine and have also noticed that when trimmed up fuel leaks, quite a large amount drips from the carb area of the engine but diffiult to ascertain where exactly. If I prime the fuel it leaks further, I have never noticed any fuel leaking whilst running so I would also be interested if the leak is a problem or just some kind of safety/overflow mechanism. Thanks
