bleeding power trim on merc

i replaced orings on trim cylinders on my 1988<br />70hp mercury. how do i bleed system and what fluid to use?

retire03<br />The trim systems on Merc's are all self bleeding, all you have to do is operate the trim from full up to full down a number of times.<br /><br />If your system is the engine mounted trim( motor and rams on the motor then you can use ATF fluid (Auto Trans fluid) or Merc have a Power trim oil you can get from a dealer.Check level when engine is full up.<br /><br />If you have the internal boat mounted pump then you need to use a SAE 20 w 20 auto oil, not ATF fluid. You can most of the time get away without bleeding the rams again just by running up and down a number of times. Check level with engine full up.<br /><br />Kiwi
