Default mercury 9.8 How much water should be comming out of the pee hole at idle

I recently purchased a 1984 9.8hp merc for my 12 foot sea knot. i had the impellar replaced but it still does not spit out hardly any water. How much water should be comming out at idle?

Should be a steady stream, although not a very strong stream. Should get stronger with RPM's.

Blow compressed air through the Telltail. If that does not cure it there is a blockage somewhere from a torn impeller. You may have to remove the exhaust covers to clean out the passageways. OR When someone replaced the impeller they bent the water pipe and it no longer seals in the waterpump.TMD

I purchased the same Merc '84 9.8 about 6 months ago and have the same issue. The tell-tale dribbles out at idle but perks up considerably under throttle. I replaced the impeller with no significant change. The next step is to replace all the o-rings, gaskets and seals in and around the water pump. Perhaps even the stainless impeller housing. And just maybe, the crazy thing is performing as designed --but it worries me.
