1995 75hp Mercury outboard stuck in the upright position. The engine tilt was slowly failing. It would always raise up but not down. Now it is all the way up and I can't get it down. There is power there, but a clicking noise when you push down button. Is there any manual release? Can the fluid be drained? All the wires seem to be entact.
any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :(
secordgoon@hotmail.com

Check your manual there is usually some sort of release but it may be a screw or bolt which will relieve the pressure but it might need to be fixed before it goes back up again.

Just a click? Motor doesnt run? Check your solenoids.

Thanks to all who replyed. It was the selenoid and there was a screw underneath which was a manual release. Thanks again! :)
