Default 135 hp Mariner fuel/oil ratio?

I just bought a 1994 Mariner 135. The original owner told me the fuel/oil ratio was 16 to 1. A local boat mechanic told me it's 50 to 1. The manual states during the break in period to run a 50 to 1 mixture in the gas tank for the first 30 hours along with the automatic oil system. After the first 30 hours, it mentions nothing about adding additional oil to the gas. However, the original owner didn't trust the automated system and had it disconnected. So the only oil this motor is getting is through the gasoline and the manual says nothing about what the proper mixture is regardless of where it comes from. So, does anyone know what the mixture ratio should be regardless of whether or not the oil is added manually or by automated process?

try 16:1 and if it smokes way too much then its 50:1 but it will most likely be 50:1
