Default impellor 75 mercury 1994

is it as simple as removing 6 bolts to drop bottom unit? Is there no need to unattach a gear linkage?

Shift rod must be detached. Best to have a manual to walk you thru whatever you are going to do.

I think that Merc has a splined shift shaft and should just slip out. You must be sure the LU and upper shift linkage are both in the same gear when re-installing the LU

put it in forward gear remove the trim tab noting where its position for reassembly, undo the nut that was hidden under the trim tab, undo the nuts at the base of the center section & pull the gearbox off.If you dont touch the shift lever or shaft the box should just slide back in .You may have to wiggle the prop to get the spline on the drive shaft to engage.good luck

Thanks for the advice. Now Ive done it once it is no mystery. Was very simple and easy to understand now. The shift control is on a short splined coupling that slides together. Thanks again
