mercury 25 bogging + low RPM's

My mercury 25 EL starts OK, but when i hit the throttle it bogs dead easily and never really reaches it's max RPM's, especially after being run a few minutes. Also has very slow response to acceleration. I've checked fuel filter, an dchecked gas ratio....what's next? The carburetor? Are there reeds in these engines? What do I do?

jim - Welcome & have some fun here. We do. First get a manual and after you say you don't want to get one just yet - get a manual.

Other than that look for crud in the carbs and/or air leaks in the fuel delivery- take the cover and the air silencer off, start it and spray some fuel mix directly into the carb. That should confirm if you have a fuel related problem.

After you do that - guess what ? - get a - - -
