Default Mercury 135 2-Cycle oil tank not refilling.

My oil tank under the cowling does not always refill as it is being used. Of course, this makes the alarm sound when the float drops. The main tank has plenty of oil and when I open either tank, I can hear the air seal break so I know they are not leaking air. this seams to be intermittent. Maybe happens more on days when the sea is rough (or maybe I just feel that way!)Any ideas?

Default Re: Mercury 135 2-Cycle oil tank not refilling.

Merc's boat mounted oil tank is pressurized by the engine. If the cap/caps are not installed correctly and tight, it will not pressurize and replenish the engine mounted tank. As you describe, it's pressurized, so it must mean that the oil line is kinked or...??? Plugg'd??/ or ,,,, Remember, their are two lines from the tank to the engine. One is the pressure line and the other is the oil supply line.
