OK GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!the wife told me I could have a new boat once her car is paid for(about 2 mo.)I have desided to by a tracker tundra 21dcok now here is the question the package come with a mercury 200Xl (2stoke???)$27,000+/- for the package. The 200 opimax is about $4000(+/-) more is it a 4 stroke???? and do they make it in a 250?? one of the motor options is a 225 optimax($5000+/-) or a 250 efi($4000+/-)my question is is the optimax worth that much extra??? what are the pro's and con's to each???oh btw, I plan on having a small kicker motor also.
The Optimax will save you about 40% more on the fuel than the EFI. I own a 225 Optimax and I used to have a EFI and the fuel consumption is alot less. The engine runs great.
the optimax is a VERY smart two stroke...a dealer can hook up a computer to it and tell you that it was run at 0-999 rpms for 21.6 hours...1000-1999 rpms for 33.1 hours...2000-2999 rpms for X hours...etc...it can analyze almost everything the motor has done or been thru
largest Opti is a 225hp...cost is because it's a "smart" motor...you could wait a few months til' the Yamaha 300 HPDI comes out..another "smart" motor...no price projection yet
max hp on this boat is 250 and they come packaged with the mercury. so I guess if I want the boat I'll get a mercury. the 225 should get that boat to about 60 or so I would think. has anyone had any problems or heard of any problems with the optimax 225???
I was looking at the mercury page and the efi is a 4 stoke (is that right) if so the 4-stroke is less exspensive than the 2 stroke?!!I think I would rather have the 4-stroke unless there is a reason I should not??
i was talking about a 250 four stroke but speed is not everything I was wandering about ease of use the 4 stroke would be much easyier on man. and such wouldn't??
