Hello,I have a 1985 200hp Mariner:In water, in gear it will idles around with no problem. Once you apply the lever/accellerator beyond idle there is no response. It will bog down alittle and eventually die if I dont back off on the trottle.I have tried the carb cleaner in carbs when applying more lever and at full throttle, but only thing it does is bog down more. Then back off on lever and idle around with no problem.Idle is fair, but not great.Any help would be appreciated.Have had ideas that it may be stator and/or trigger????Thanks,Cory
BadCop,Try and push in on the key when you try and go. Also, might try and pump the fuel bulb. Is the fuel bulb firm? You need to check some fuel items before you start with electrical.
Yes bulb is firm, yes tried to push in key/choke.Prop spun??? I should add that out of water on mouse water ears, it accellerates, just when in water with load. I can also just throttle the boat while in water, without in drive and it throttles up.Carbs have been gone through, fuel tank removed and cleaned prior. Thanks,Cory
Ahoy, Badcop.Cleaned the carbs? How?Go to www.outboardrepairs.com and look up power loss. There is a lot of advice there for isolating your cause.Let us know what you find and what you did about it.Good luck.
