I have a 85 hp merc outboard. My current prop is a 19 pitch aluminum. My tach reads 4400 at WOT (full load of people), 1000 at idle. I think I am overpropped. What should my tach read at WOT? Should I purchase a 17 or 15 pitch prop? According to a propeller catalog, 15 - 19 are available for my motor.<br /><br />Also, the motor stalls (or hesitates) on me sometimes when I move the throttle foward quickly. I'm guessing the prop is creating too much resistance in the water and a smaller pitch prop would hopefully help this problem.<br /><br />I'm thinking I probably need a 17, but I'm not sure. I don't want to spend the money on a new prop unless I know its the right one.<br /><br />Thanks
