I believe from 1974 and on, most Ford engines were set up with hardened valve seats so they could be used with Unleaded fuel. At least this is true in cars.<br /><br />What about marine engines of this era?<br /><br />I read somewhere that you could tell if you look at the valve train. If the valve springs have the rotators (device that rotates the valve every time it raises/lowers) then it was a good bet it was unleaded ready.<br /><br />Any thoughts?<br /><br />H.
