Almost done with a major redo of this motor, just put a rebuilt carb on the engine and noticed that the choke shutter was not closing all the way. Is this ok or should it be closed all the way. If its to be closed thightly is there any way to adjust the choke cable. Any info would be thankfull. Shawn

My Mercury 6hp is very hard to start without the choke tight on the carb. I even had to add a washer to push it tighter against the carb. I’m not familiar with your motor though since mine doesn’t have a cable. You should be able to adjust it. A hard to start motor is a real pain in the a**, especially on a fast moving river with many overhanging trees.
