I am going to buy a new motor and have decided on a johnson 4 stroke.
I have noticed that the 40 and 50 have the same cubic, weight etc. (everything is the same) and that the hp for the 50 is just on a higher rpm.
Are these two the same engine?
Can I in a simple way get 50 hp from a 40 motor?

Just trying to save some money..

Sincerely
Arild Sunde
Norway

Typically on these engines, the differences in hp are achieved with different cam shafts and a different ECU.

If you're buying new, just get the 50, it's less expensive in the end.

-John
