Sorry! We obviously bought the wrong marine product. My 2002 Mercury 225 EFI totally distroyed the #3 cylinder piston with a wrist pin failure with only 60 service hours on the motor. Mercury is hiding on this one. They would not stand behind the product because the one year warranty had expired by four months. I submitted details to Mercury for assistance in covering some repair cost and was completely ignored. My recommendation: Do not repair! Get rid of the junk and purchase a quality marine product.

I 've never had a 100% denial On a motor just out Of warrenty unless the motor was sold new @ A very reduced price.. toney........ did you call merc with your issue??? they have been very helpfull with early 3.0l opti's... same deal.. reduced powerheads.. etc... they have NOT stiff me yet On a 3.0l opti!!!

That is the same way I was treated by Mercury back in 1990 when I lost a lower bearing cap and the rod ended up coming through the block. It looked like it only had a lock nut on one side. The 1989 200 Merc was only 13 months old w/140 hours. Mercury told the dealer sorry, out of warranty. I did have an extended repair policy so didn't have eat the repair bill, just the sales tax. Thank goodness, but not to "Mercury". I am still running the same engine today and will until it pukes and then "bye bye" MERCURY.I think Mercury is like the old Packard Bell computer, as the saying went, if you want to learn to work on computers, buy Packard Bell( out of business now)I gues the same can be said about Mercury because I have sure learned to work on mine over the years.

Am I missing something, or did someone revive a post that is nearly a year old? Surely this has been resolved by now.
