Cooling 90HP Mercury 4 Stroke

I have just bought a new 90 HP Mercury 4 stroke. It ran perfectly on its first trip with no problems. When I started the motor in a tank of fresh water to flush the motor out no water came out of the 'tell tale ' hole at the back of the motor. The intake holes were submerged and were not blocked.

I assume it was brand new my suggestion bring it to the dealer who sold it to you Im sure there is warranty I would not even bugger with it let them

The water level must be above the water pump.

Not that it matters but if you don't want to run the motor I think you can screw the hose right into the tell tale grommet and flush the engine that way. Check the owners manual you got with the engine.

Oh and get the water level well above the antiventilation plate and see if it still doesn't pump.

Have fixed the problem. Seems there was a small pebble which got in throughthe intake but couldn't get ot through the tell tale outlet, This caused the blockage. A backflush with the garden hose has sorted it out.
