I have one of the early - 1999 - 4 stroke 4 hp Mercury engines that had the seperate gas tank.Unfortunately it has developed a problem that I think is an air leak but I can't find it. At over half throttle the engine runs fine but as soon as I get below that the engine wants to run for a couple of minutes and then dies unless I squeeze the bulb a couple of times when the performance is repeated.Has anyone else had this problem & if so where was the air leak. I have checked the fuel pump & it seems to be OK.

What have you done to check air leaks?What have you done to check the fuel pump?Typically air leaks occur at tank and motor connectors May not leak gas just air. Also check any filters.
