Default long shaft mariner

hello again to all,and a good new year.I bought this 15hp mariner(ss#684c L551365)i got a manual with it but unsure of the year?Also it came off a pon toon and the shaft looks pretty long,I have a 14ft starcraft bass boat.Is the motor size OK?THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Fishman66, Your motor is a 1980 model.This motor should fit fine on your boat.To verify measure from the top center of your transom to the bottom. Measurement should be somewhere between 19-20".

Thanks for such a quick reply,The tramson lenth is only 16in,should i get some kind of lift?

If motor is mounted at it's highest adjustment using the lowest holes of the transom bracket you may be fine.Motors cavitation plate when mounted should be roughly even with bottom of boat.
