I need info on rebuilding a carb on a late 70's Mariner 70 hp motor. I have the manual but dont know what info to give or where the best place to order a rebuild kit from is. Any help or advive anyone has will be helpful. Sorry if this topic has been covered before. Mark O
Use this application chart and get the 18- number and take that number to your local NAPA auto parts store and they will have your part tomorrow.MarinerNeed your serial number to tell your exact year model.Year model guide
How do i find out what model carbs i have, I called napa about the re-build kit and they wanted to know what brand they were. all i can see is mercarb on the side and the number 20-66 380, also what all do i need to buy to do a complete carb re-build i have my manual. thanks mark o
look on around the top on the sides it usaully it is stamped into the carb body most of the time it is a WHK,WH,often mercury /mariner carbs look the same but have different letters so look at all the carbs and get all the letters & #'s ,and make sure you take note what carb came from what cylinder, they can be jetted different ,when rebuilding them DO NOT MIX UP THE CARBS AND FLOAT BOWLS OR ANY OTHER PARTS,you can cause yourself to have more problems than you originally had,Mercury/Mariner have a bad habit of jetting carbs differnt from 1 cylinder to the next
Post serial # to be sure. Since you stated it was a Late 70's Model, I assumed it is a '79, since the Modelguide chart starts the 70 HP in 1979. But, this could be misleading, so please post S Number.
