need a 225hp

A friend of mine is looking for an offshore motor 225 or bigger. With all the fuel injected and computers on these motors, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a reliable strong brand, or ones to stay away from? He had a 225 merc offshore, and for some reason it lost a cyl. (only like 4yrs old) I know he is looking at a Yamaha at this time. Thanks in advance for any help.

It would be hard to go wrong with a Yamaha, Mike.<br /><br />None of them are perfect, none of them are dogs, but the Yammy seems to be at the top.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

Thanks for the input JB.<br /> <br />He is now looking at 4-strokes. I have heard that they had a lot of bugs to work out, that they were tempermental....anyhow he is most likely sold on 4-stroke, due to the fuel mileage increase....alot of money to get mileage if you ask me...
