Got a 97 "Super Bandit" riveted 17fter with a 94 Rude 88 SPL on it. Bought it that way from an individual. The boat has a 16 gal tank, livewell, and battery space under the rear deck. The boat is rated for 90hp. I have raised the motor one hole and wot is around 5100 at 38 mph pushing a 17 prop. Can't trim out very much because of porpoising. I feel that the motor is too much weight for this hull. Can I get some "expert" opinions from the "gurus"? BTW, I've read all the "Smart Tabs" threads and there ain't no place in the front to move weight to.

Re: Alumacraft problems

Emptying the livewell and not using a full fuel load will save you 150#.
A 14p prop will give you approx 5600 rpm.

Your motor weighs apprx 230#
a 40 or 50 hp is 190#.

You aren't gonna save much weight by getting a smaller engine.
