Mariner 45hp starting problems

I have a 45hp Mariner, 1988, 4 cylinder, oil injection, model# 7-045411n. Problem - when ever the motor sits for a day it will not start. Pull the middle two plugs and it starts right up. Runs and starts great the rest of the day. Tried some carb cleaner and the plugs are new. Seems to be good pressure at the fuel pump. It is a fuel problem as there is good spark. Any ideas ?
