Hey there.I just Boughta used Champion Bass boat with a 1986 Mercury Black Max. Took it out for the first time and had this problem. Engine started fine then after warm up went to full throttle and engine boggs down. At full throttle boat will not come out of the hole. Then after a few minutes the Rpms climbed and whammo out it came. Ran good and quick for about 5 minutes . Got to the part of the lake I wanted to go and when throttling down it once again began to bog down.This happened all day. At the end of the day I could no longer throttle up without the motor bogging down. sorry about rambling on here but wanted to decribe my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had the same problem with my 1988, I pumped the primer ball up and noticed that fuel was coming out the carb bowl overflow vent. I rebuilt the carbs, needles seats and gaskets, and cleaning, which they were to start with and she run great now, no more bogging down. I think mine was related to bad gas I got at the lake so I decided to drain and refill, no problems since.
