Earlier this week I posted a question about a Mercury 90 inline 6 I'm thinking of buying. I got a good answer saying that it was an '86. Since then I've drifted around on this BB just to get to know it. On another thread I found a link to a page containing info on Mercury serial numbers.<br /><br />I'm not doubting, that "my" engine is an '86. I'm just wondering how the serial number system works. "My" engine's serial nr. is A150261 - on the above mentioned page is says that an '86 90 hp Merc starts with A902436.
