I have a '95 Mariner (125hp) that leaks fuel on the inside of the cowling... enough that sometimes it finds it's way out down the side of the lower unit. Fuel consumption is normal at WOT (about 14 gph), so maybe expect problem is not while operating. Was wondering if maybe leak occurs when motor is tilted up for travel... it is carbureted and don't much about that system. I popped the cover off to the intake air chamber and found fuel lying at the bottom. I ran a batch of that Mercury fuel system cleaner a couple tanks ago hoping it would free a stuck float or something, but no improvement. Would appreciate any advice you might have.
hi,If the motor runs ok i would guess the carbs are ok,i would start by checking the fuel hoses havn't hardened and cracked, maybe a crack that only opens when the engine is tilted?
