Looking to buy a 97 20 ft pontoon with 60 hp Merc. Took it for a ride. Never driven a pontoon. It ran about 17 mph at 4200 rpm. Seemed to run fine quiet and smooth but the speed seemed a little slow. It weighs about 1900 lbs and there was about 800 lbs onboard. Is the speed a little slow.
oaker,That's about all you're going to get. Pontoons do not plane. They are a displacement type boat.Turns can also be a little unnerving for the uniniated, they lean the wrong way!
