Fuel line fittings

I just purchased a used 8hp Johnson Sailmaster to use as a kicker/backup for my highly unreliable 50 hp Force. Can anyone tell me the purpose of the two-prong fitting that J/E uses? More specifically, can I use the J/E fitting on the motor end of the fuel line, but use a Chrysler/Force quick release fitting on the tank end (as this is what the tank is set-up for). Otherwise, I have to get a second tank. Thanks in advance.

Re: Fuel line fittings

I don't see any problems. As long as the Chrysler/Force hose fits the J/E fitting, doesn't leak etc. I'll assume the old tank is single hose and is a vented tank. Your 8HP uses a standard suction type fuel pump. The 2 pin connector has 1 pin to physically engage the connector (side with the spring clip), the other "pin" is the fuel line.

Thanks for your response. Yes the tank is single-line vented. The line is almost new 3/8". I can put the F/C fitting on one end with a tight hose clamp. Sounds like I'm good to go!
