Hi everyone! great site. I have a 1990 johnson 140 v4. yesterday going along fine 2000 rpms. sped up to about 3000 rpms then had to power back and turn very quickly engine just plain died. sat a bit, she wouldn't start for a while then right up and we were away. last year same thing happened going along at high speed this time and just died. changed the fuel seperator ( alot of water) we were fine after that. this year put a new fuel filter in ( yamaha couldn't get an omc) also, the engine seems to smoke a bit more than last year . have already put new vro pump in last year. thanks for any help, i just feel not confident to go out in the sea with an engine that can just konk out on my for no reason. thanks to everyone.
