I have a 1987 Johnson 88 SPL and am not sure what spark plug to use. I got the boat used and need to replace the plugs. I don't trust the the ones in it now are right. Also would like to know what to set the gap at.

Use Champion QL77JC4 spark plugs 88lake. Set them at .030. For a better idle, set them at .040....won't hurt top end.

QL77s are for radio noise supression. Just L77JC4s are fine too if that isn't an issue. They're a little cheaper and sometimes you can't find the QLs.
