first - thanks for the help getting it going. now, it has no top-end so I decided to start a new post as the problem has changed...the engine runs better than perfect from idle to about just over half-speed...after which, it just doesn't want to go (seems to bog out - will still run, but no more speed)...

I have investigated extensively and discovered one of the fuel delivery pins in the gas tank manifold assembly is missing (the two cylinder- shaped tubes are there, but the little wee pin inside the lower unit is not there) would this prevent the extra fuel needed for hitting top end? My dad took the boat out last night while I was at work and didn't squeeze the primer bulb to test as fireman57 suggested so I'm not sure... FYI - it has dual fuel pumps.

http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a64/sierrasteelheader/?action=view&current=tank.jpg

Don't know if it would or not but that part is readily available for not much money.

When it bogs check for spark on both plug wires with a timing light. You may be losing spark to one cylinder but my bet is you missed some junk in the high speed jet of the carb.
