Am currently helping a friend replace the steering fork/shaft assy on his 98 evinrude 90 hp V-4. Had to take everything apart to get to it. Am down to the final step which is removing the lower mount which was secured by 4 bolts. Found a big nut , must have been 2 ins. , removed that and am looking at the end of the shaft which is spined to the bottom carrier housing. Question is, should this housing just slide off the shaft allowing the shafts removal up the tube or is there a hidden roll pin or set screw securing the shaft? <br /> There is a small 1/8 in hole drilled at an angle in the housing but does not appear to have anything installed in it. Salt water engine so this has not been a real easy job. Salt water enviroment completely corroded the arm off. Amasing. thanks fred
