9.9 four stroke still won't run after carb rebuild

I thought I had my problem licked following the advice of Walker (thank you for your prompt reply) last Sunday and rebuilt the carburator. The problem was that it could only idle and then would die when I gave it throttle. After the rebuild it started right up, so we went to the lake tonight and after 15 minutes it died and left us stranded! So, I'm ready for something else. My thoughts are to 1. replace the already new gas with new gas, 2. check the fuel pump again, though the last time it gurgled out of the line - not sure what's normal but there was gas and 3. beats me??!!<br />Would appreciate any further ideas.<br />Thx, Bob

What year was this 9.9? One thing we have seen in some of the early 9.9's and 15's was bad cd modules. They start up and run for a while then quit. Just the other day, we had a 15 4 stroke in that has consistantly given us problems, and while trying to diagnose the problem, discovered by moving wires around we could get it to run then fail. Had to replace the stator to solve the problem (the affected wires were attached to the stator) check for spark when it quits. One sign of a bad cd is a greasy ooze coming from the CD module

Seemes strange, but after being in storage for the winter, I emptied the old gas and added new - but there must have been some water that I didn't shake out of the tank and I think that caused the problems. Now, after draining the carburator bowl and fuel line, it runs again.<br />Thx for the advice.
