Johnson 90hp....j90tleor I just had my engine rebuilt and it all back together on the boat...I raised the engine up one hole following the instructions given to me from a previous post....anyway while doing some last minute cks this weekend b4 I launch....I discovered the overheat horn was not hooked up.....I followed the advice I found in a search on here that said to ck this circuit leave the key on and ground the tan wire coming from each of the heat sensors ...and to my dismay nothing happened....so I followed the wire up to the front of the boat and found it taped bk under the dash not connected to anything.....I left the ground on the heat sensor and with the key on touched the wire on one terminal of the horn and the horn sounds,,....is this the correct place for this wire?

Re: Overheat Alarm

You can pinch off the supply hose from the oil tank and the alarm will go off fairly soon thereafter. You will have to wait a bit for the oil that's already in the line to run out at the VRO. Best to mix a 6 Gallon tank at 50:1 when performing this test, so as not to run the motor with no oil...
