Great forum!

I just bought a 1996 Johnson 115 HP on a Glastron 16ft.
Sometimes when I turn the key to start it, nothing happens. It wont turn over or anything.
After a couple of attempts, it turns over and starts. Its almost like something electrical isn't working properly. Or maby it has some type of timer that wont allow starting for a few seconds after shutting down?? Does anyone else know of this problem?

Thanks alot!!.. :)

Re: 115 Johnson starting problem

probably a loose or corroded connection in the starter cables, Lut.

Start at the battery. Disconnect, clean and reconnect all connections with big cables.

If that doesn't do it, go to the Engine FAQS forum and do the troubleshooting for non-starting.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Pay special attention to the negative battery terminal where it connects to the engine block.

Take it apart and clean it.

Feel the connections at the battery after you start it. If they are hot, your battery cables will probably be corroded inside the sheathing.
