spark problem

i have i 1992 evinrude 50hp ex rnli mod number e50rnlib ser number go311707 it starts up fine will run on water for so long then cut out or when u turn it of it wont start when i take plugs out they r wet with fuel mix will start up again when out of water and give the sparks a clean

when the engine is stopped or cuts out there is no spark when we test plugs about half hour later engine restarts as normal any sugestions as we have to keep using back up

Welcome morebass1 !<br /><br />It sounds as if the problem is heat related. Being a military model, I don't know if the power pack is on the block or under the flywheel.<br /><br />Are you sure the engine is not over heating?<br /><br />If you are sure that it's not, take a hair dryer and play the hot air on the power pack or under the flywheel while the engine is idling on muffs. This should get the pack warm enough to fail and cause the engine to stop if that is the problem.<br /><br />Keep us posted here on the forums.

the overheating alarm dosent come on before engine cuts out so im presuming its alright as alarm is working but when i try to start engine again there is no spark to plug yet after an hour or so it starts fine thanks for reply any ideas desperate

Your overheat alarm is a seperate thing from what OBJ is trying to tell you.<br /><br />Take his advice with the hair dryer thing.
