I have a 2 Johnson that will not troll at slow speed. I have done rings, carb and ignition it will troll for awhile perfict then act up hard to start so close to perfect but just not there. Any ideas? I also have another with the splines rusted out of the bottom of the crank. Is there a fix without replacing it?

Welcome barkie!<br /><br />Is the fuel tank clean? This is gravity flow to the carb so if the strainer in the tank is dirty, could restrict the flow.<br /><br />Engine temp good? Pumping water good?<br /><br />Carb needles....should set the high speed needle first. Start with about 3/4 turn out from gently seated. Once you've got your best top end speed, set your low speed. Start with about 3/4 to 1 turn out from gently seated.

Thanks OBJ everything looks ok. The only thing I was thinking because it's a 78 if I have to up the gas from reg to hightest.Any idea on a repair for the splines in the bottom of the crank?
