Default 1998 25 HP Mariner 4 Stroke...Any Good?

I am looking at brand new 1998 Mariner 4-stroke moter. It's still in the crate. The price is right but I wonder about the motor's reliability, performance etc. I was surprised at the weight of it; almost 200lb. Is it a good match for a 16 foot deep body alum. boat(Princecraft Starfish)? Thanks for the advice.

I don't have one my self but everything that I read say's it is the way of the future. The U.S. government is going to crack down on two cycle motors because they put all that oil in the water ways You can't go worng with a Mariner/Merc.

Thanks for the reply. The regular price on the motor seems to be around $4000.00 CAN ($2560.00 US)for a new model. This one was seized by a receiver nad is going for $2600.00 CAN ($1664.00 US). Seems to be a good deal for a brand new motor. I think I'll go for itThanks
