Rectifier Gasket Question

My rectifier on my 1990 model 200HP Johnson burned out. I have the replacement but am unsure of how to install the gasket. One side of the gasket has a bead of sealant, and the other side is coated with a sticky adhesive. Which side goes against the block and which against the rectifier/regulator?

Re: Rectifier Gasket Question

Welcome to iboats. :)

I suppose that it would depend on which part you'd rather it stuck to. Towards the block and you can reuse it if you ever have to replace another VR/R. On the other hand, if they come with those gaskets anyhow, it would be best to use the new gasket each time and stick it to the regulator. But I believe there's only one way to mount it. (The beaded side releases cleanly sometimes.)
