no plate with model # any other way to determine year???

no plate...<br />dont know waht a freeze plug is...<br />need to know where to find model # and year???<br />johnson 9.9 probably sometime early 80's just not sure....<br />thanks for any advice....

skitz...A freeze plug is a small round, maybe silver, plug in the block.

Look for a round, convex aluminum seal around the top or side of the engine block. <br /><br />If it has two sets of numbers, the first is the model number. If it has only one set, it is the serial #.

Had similar problem. I used this Bombardier site to get part numbers for various models and years. With a few part numbers (like the transom brackets), I was able to sort thru the website and find the year of my motor. The model is tougher, but at least if you find the year, the models are then identified. Good luck.<br /><br /> http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E
