Tach hookup on 86 Johnson

I have purchased a 94 model Tachometer and was told I needed a different harness to connect to the rectifier on my 86 johnson..Anybody got a clue on this?? :rolleyes:

What terminals do you have on the back of the Tach. and does it have a dial for setting the pulses?

I have a illumination hot & ground and a pulse terminal. It also has a rotating selector dial for setting 2,3,4,5, or 6. It states on the tach it is for 5-6 +10 pul/rev alt equiped outboards..If it will help, I can get the part number off the side of this gauge..
