Have a '97 Mariner 60 hp. Bogs at approx.3000rpm every time. Serial #0G525355 Model# ELPTO. No water in the gas. Has black stator. Starts fine, primer bulb gets hard, and fine until you hit 3000 rpm. Won't go over 4000 rpm. Does it need the red stator?
Maybe ,but generally when this stator fails it just leaves you dead in the water.With that in mind it might be a good idea to just update it.I have seen these failures in increments,but I will say it is an oddity and will require a good tech and patience to get to the bottom of.
Do you know what the readings should be off the stator? Don't have a manual on this one. Don't have the time to get one either. Is there just an update kit and what's the part number?
