Please excuse me if I posted this before, but I cannot find the post.<br />I have a 1998 Johnson Sailmaster. Last year I had a new water pump and line running to the powerhead replaced. Now I have exhaust coming out just below the powerhead. It is traveling up the swivel tube and out the small hole just below the powerhead. The motor has been apart, resealed and inspected, but they cannot stop the exhaust leak. Very liitle exhaust travels out the prop at idle. The motor runs well, but at the dock or when not moving exhaust enters the cockpit. The exhaust note is louder than it was before but no problems with the exhaust path can be found. It did not do this before the repair.

Re: exhaust gas

My guess is that whoever performed the service and replaced the water tube ,upset the gasket that seals the inner exhaust tube to the powerhead. The service place should rectify this issue or at least have the gumption to admit that you have a problem that needs to be rectified.
